“This is first and foremost a fun game for the whole family, so there is all kinds of play, fun and laughter in it. We believe that this game should reach the target group of 4-year-olds to 104-year-olds” says Magnús Scheving, author of Latibær. Magnús has now created a game about Latibær, called Latador, which is expected to be on the market this November.
Magnús is the author of the game but many others are involved. Halldór Baldursson took care of the drawings and the advertising agency Hið opinbera designed the game. Máni Svavarsson composed music on a CD that accompanies the game and the disc contains 42 songs. The game is made in the UK by the same people who made the popular Trivial Pursuit card. The game is made in a limited edition and will only be available in Hagkaup and Bónus stores. Magnús says that they are also considering marketing the game abroad. The British parties are very interested in translating the game into English and distributing it in Europe.
Magnús: “Of course, the game is about who comes to the finish line first and wins. You can land on various squares, go backwards if you are unlucky or forward if you are lucky. Then there is money, all kinds of questions and puzzles. You may need to dance ballet for 25 seconds, stand on one leg or talk well about your neighbor for 25 seconds, sing or do various other fun puzzles. It is played on the board itself, inside the box lid and even on the living room floor. A CD accompanies the game and it contains a number of songs by Máni Svavarsson who are to play with the puzzles. It is not necessary to play the disc when playing the game, but it is of course much more fun and spices up the game a lot. The game also has educational cards, which contain e.g. explain the stupidity that comes with violence and drugs but the wisdom that comes with a healthy lifestyle and diet”.
“The game has been well received by those who have played it and I am of course optimistic. This is a very high quality game. It is not clear what it costs me, but we try to have a very reasonable price for it” says Magnús.
