Health, loyalty and exercise – the title of theme days at Brekkuskóli
There was an amazing atmosphere in the Sports Hall in Akureyri yesterday morning, where students and teachers from Brekkuskóli (school), with six hundred people, were completing theme days, under the title “Health, loyalty, exercise”. The kids received the good guests from the south, Solla Stirða and Halla hrekkjusvín from Latibær, who entertained them for a while with singing and dancing. One of the first classes at Oddeyrarskóli also came to visit.
Among other things, Solla and Halla led a rock dance competition between the school’s cohorts, with the youngest performing best, with school staff allowed to take a few ballet steps to the great joy of the little students. In the end, a group of students went down to the floor and were taught line dancing, under the direction of Aðalbjörg Hafsteinsdóttir.
The theme days lasted for three days and were very successful, according to Karl Erlendsson, the school principal. Karl said that the school had received funding from Búnaðarbanki, Norðurorka and Norðurmjólk in connection with the program in the Sports Hall and he was very happy with the atmosphere in the building.
