Latibær is the winter project of the Sólheimar Theater Company and rehearsals began in October under the direction of Edda Björgvinsdóttir. “It’s all going well with us. Since I was here five years ago, it can be said that a new generation has come into the picture. The acting group is very harmonious and good and I expect this to be a very fun and lively show” says director Sigurgeir Scheving. “Rehearsals for Áfram Latibær have been going on for a month and on Thursday 18 November, in just over a week, it will be premiered”.
Áfram Latibær is based on the story by Magnús Scheving. It was Sigurgeir, who is now directing at Leikfélag Sauðárkrókur Theater for the fifth time, who first staged the work in his hometown of Vestmannaeyjum (April 1996). Latibær has been shown in several places in the country and has been very well received everywhere. The set for the show at LS Theater is borrowed from Reykjavík, that is to say most of it. When asked, Sigurgeir said that it had been a good idea to place it on the narrow stage in Bifröst.
All that can be said is that there is a good job in Leikfélag Sauðárkrókur Theater at the moment and there is every reason to encourage people to support the cultural contribution that it entails, by attending the theater. It is an effort for a smaller theater company to put on two shows during the same season, but later this winter, of course, Sæluvikustykkið will be rehearsed. The chairman of Leikfélag Sauðárkrókur Theater is Páll Friðriksson.
