Magnús Scheving, author of Latibær, received the Entrepreneurship Award this year.
Be true to yourself
Magnús Scheving has built up Latibær and during this year agreements were reached with the American children’s television station Nickelodeon for the production and screening of 40 TV shows about Latibær in the United States. Valgerður said when she presented Magnús with recognition as the Entrepreneur of the Year 2003 that she could not help but express admiration for his original and bold ideas and the great diligence and perseverance that has led to this success.
Magnús said at the presentation of the award that inactivity and childhood obesity are the biggest health problems in the world today and Latibær’s employees planned to put all their energy into combating this problem. He said there were many pioneers working on their ideas in garages all over the place. He himself had started on the living room floor at home, and sometimes Christmas was a little short when he had to run, taking Latabær’s tape to a children’s home where their tape didn’t work. “That is to be an entrepreneur, to always be there and be true to yourself” said Magnús at the award ceremony.
