Residents from LazyTown and their friends from far and wide performed in the Laugardal Sports Hall on Saturday, March 27, 2010. The LazyTown festival - Latibaer í Höllini - took place with a lot of trumpets and singing, and children of all ages had a good time with Stephanie's cheerfulness and the cunning tricks of Robbie Rotten, to name a few. In the lobby there were props of LazyTown to play ...
“It’s really great and a big surprise,” says Unnur Eggertsdóttir, a 17-year-old girl from Verslunarskólamær, who has been chosen from among hundreds of applicants to play the role of Stephanie at the LazyTown festival. Auditions have been held recently and there were interested candidates in a wide age range, although they could not be older than 28 years.
Despite her young age, Unnur has experience on the stage. She is currently starring in Versló’s musical Thriller, which is based on music by Michael Jackson and is staged in the Loftkastalan theater. She first performed on stage at the age of 8. “I have practiced dancing since I was very young and I have also practiced singing. I lived in California from the age of 8 to 12, and that’s where I started in amateur theater,” she says.
But what significance does it have for Unnur to get the role of Stephanie? “I’m supposed to perform at the LazyTown festival at the end of March, 2010, and then we’ll have all kinds of entertainment, for example on June 17,” she says.
