LazyTown stands stronger than ever. The company's relatives are big-hearted and seem to have every reason to be optimistic about the business in the coming years. "We have just become part of the Turner group, which in turn is part of Time Warner. Those agreements were finalized late 2011, and the purpose, among other things, to bring on board an owner who has the right distribution channels," say...
Work is being done to update Sportacus’s costume, and for that reason, Thi Theu Hanyaka came to the country to get the job done. “It’s been great and I love everyone here at LazyTown. Icelanders are very nice people, even the taxi drivers are normal, unlike what I’m used to in Los Angeles,” says Thi Theu Hanyaka, costume and clothing designer at Ironhead Studio. Hanyaka came to Iceland a while ago on behalf of the company Ironhead Studio, which was in charge of updating Sportacus’s costume for the third season of LazyTown.
Hanyaka is from Switzerland but has lived and worked in Los Angeles for the past ten years and started her career as a fashion designer. Among other things, she has worked closely with fashion designer Jeremy Scott on projects he did for Björk and Madonna. “Jeremy and I became very good friends through work and I consider him one of my best friends today,” she says.
Ironhead Studio has created the costumes for blockbusters such as Alien 3, Batman Returns, Thor and The X-men, and now it is handling the costumes for Tom Cruise’s latest film, Oblivion. Hanyaka says the company specializes in costumes and helmets made for adventure and science fiction films. “We specialize in helmets and weird futuristic clothes,” says Hanyaka cheerfully. She says she has become used to meeting big stars like Tom Cruise through her work and therefore no longer finds it strange or significant.
When Hanyaka is finally asked about her stay in Iceland, she perks up and says she managed to relax well. “Life here is not as crazy as out in Los Angeles and your air is so clean! A black cloud of pollution hangs over LA. “I really wanted to visit the Blue Lagoon, I’ve heard it’s wonderful, but I didn’t have time because my return home was rushed due to work,” she concludes.
