Photos of Magnús Scheving and Stefán Karl Stefánsson as the characters Sportacus and Robbie Rotten are now going viral among housewives in the United States. The housewives keep a close eye on the stars of LazyTown. In discussions on the internet, many of them express lust towards the Icelanders.
In the forums where American housewives express their opinions, you can find quotes like: “It was so good to see these pictures, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who dreams of Sportacus.”
“Sportacus is a man of my liking. I need to wipe the drool off the keyboard” said one to her friends. “Wow! Sportacus is a ‘hottie’! and Robbie Rotten isn’t the worst either” declared a housewife. Then another said she liked the heroes more than her daughter does. “My Emily loves watching LazyTown, but I LOVE watching Sportacus.”
More American women were the same. “Sportacus is in great shape and looks so sweet.” They still continue: “Robbie Rotten can give me candy at any time!” and one of them wanted to move to LazyTown: “Wow! I never thought that I would be excited over Sportacus! I want to move to LazyTown!” Then one employee at the TV station Nicelodeon said he wanted to share her lust with other women. “I’m looking forward to telling the girls who work with me at Nickelodeon that we’re not the only women with airy feelings about the world of sports.”
In a similar vein, men are expressing their concerns about their wives who sit glued to the screen while Magnús jumps and stretches in the tight sports elf costume: “When I showed my wife the show, she was completely ga-ga over Sportacus.” When the show is on, you can hear her oohhhh and ahhhh. She tells me that every mother she knows agrees with her. She says the purpose of the sports show is to get moms to turn on the show and watch it with their kids. I’m jealous.”
In an interview on Nickelodeon, the station that shows the shows, Magnús himself says: “LazyTown tries its best to encourage parents and children’s caretakers to take an active part in their children’s daily activities. It is very important that the parents experience that as much as possible with the babies.”
LazyTown is shown in 170 countries and reaches children in 500 million homes. The company has around 300 active contracts at any given time, both with television stations and a variety of producers who have signed an agreement to use the brand.
