"I think it's very likely, we have a meeting with the publishing company Gut Records at the end of January, 2007, and then a decision will probably be made," says musician Máni Svavarsson, when asked about the next steps in LazyTown's musical expansion. As reported in the media at the end of 2006, the single Bing Bang (Time To Dance) single went straight to number four in the UK Singles Chart in ...
Máni Svavarsson, the author of the music in LazyTown, has composed several new songs for a children’s series that has been successful in Britain recently. The main character is Peppa Pig, and she has been one of the most popular characters of British children in recent years. Episodes about her are shown in 180 countries and the show will soon be in Liverpool.
“It fits, these are the same producers who produced the LazyTown series, who now make the Peppa Pig series, and they asked me last year if I’d be willing to write some songs. There’s not a lot of music around this character except for the opening song and I just added a little bit.”
Máni says he is not looking around as there are enough projects at LazyTown. “No, these producers are our good friends and I just wrote these songs during my summer vacation.” These are such small and trivial songs, because Peppa’s style is aimed at the youngest children,” Máni explains, adding that Peppa Pig is also much smaller in format than LazyTown.
Máni has just finished writing a new song for LazyTown, which will be used in a huge advertising campaign for the grocery chain ASDA. LazyTown will be at the center of a new marketing campaign based on handing out pedometers to British children and encouraging them to walk more. Magnús Scheving and Julianne Rose Mauriello will be in charge of the campaign, and this will be the first time in history that the two of them will travel together to promote LazyTown.
